General Description

“MOJU YOU(th)NIVERSITY 2017” is a space for debate, networking, training and exchange of experiences of youth workers and leaders. 6 days Training Course, 35 people from 17 European Countries will gather in Faro, Portugal, from 16th to 21st October 2017 for an international training course called “Transformers! – Training on youth transforming conflicts under cultural differences”.

The main aim of this project is to develop participants’ competences to work and to act within intercultural environment, specifically on themes like conflict management with young people with different cultural backgrounds, specially migrants and refugees through non formal education. It has also as objective to provide quality training for the participants in certain areas of the youth work.

The objectives that we hope will help us achieving the project’s aim are:

• Equip participants with interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
• Explore tools, approaches and attitudes for effective conflict intervention and resolving seemingly intractable disputes on all levels (personal, organizational, community and country level)
• Develop and promote intercultural competences and diversity management skills for youth work in multi-cultural environments with high conflict risks. Encourage participants to see diversity as an opportunity for value creation and cooperation.
• Promote active citizenship and non-violent actions towards peace and democracy.
• Promote the non formal education approach as a powerful method for dealing with conflicts
• Promote EU programs and opportunities for youth

The project will redirect youth energy from reacting to conflict but responding and engaging with conflict and give them skills to analyse the WHY of conflict and be able to carry out right approaches to conflicts but because you can not transform any form of conflict without adequate knowledge of negotiation skills. The training will fuse these two important concept and tools together. One of the aims of this training is to empower and equip young leaders and youth workers with negotiation skills.

Everyone negotiates something every day. You negotiate with your family about where to spend the weekend. You discuss a raise with your boss. You try to agree with a stranger on the price of his house. We buy and sell, manage workers and work for managers, deal with friends, family, colleagues, merchants, organizations, and institutions all the time.

But how does one become an effective negotiator? This training will revolutionize young people in Europe. The training will not only re-launch young people and redirect their energies, it will seek to make them change agents and unarmed army of young people skilled in Conflict Transformation and Negotiation through Turbulence.
