Are you interested in innovation and digitalisation in youth work? Would you like to discover a new tool to innovate your youth workers practices, services and approaches?

General Description

This training course aims to contribute to the development of digital youth work in Europe by encouraging and helping youth organisations innovate their youth work services and add a digital dimension to them. InnoCamp is based on the Innobox toolkit developed by Verke and it provides a structured approach and support for (re)developing operations and creating something new.

The process will enable participants to develop new youth work practices, approaches or services and exploring their potential digital dimension. Innobox can be used alone, in a group or even with the entire working community. The most important thing is the desire to do youth work better. The purpose is to help you analyse and identify the challenge that you want to address, examine it from several perspectives, and come up with an innovative solution.

During the TC participants will:

  • familiarise themselves with & experience the process of innovation in the frame of the Innobox tool
  • learn how to identify and analyse challenges they want to address and connect them to broader societal changes and developments
  • learn how to develop new (digital) methods, approaches or services to address those challenges
  • practice how to present and pitch their ideas
  • link the entire process to their local context
  • share and discuss their existing digital youth work practices
  • discover current trends in digital youth work

Profile of participants

Youth workers and youth work practitioners who are:

  • at least 18 years old
  • interested in digital youth work
  • interested in (re)developing their digital youth work practice
  • experienced in youth work or familiar with the youth work context
  • motivated & able to implement at least parts of the Innobox process in their organisation upon
  • their return

Preparatory work and the programme of activities:

During the training course participants will gain basic understanding on how to use the Innobox tool in their future work with young people, work colleagues or even wider community. To be able to do that, participants should familiarise themselves with their organisation’s strategy in advance and have support from their organisation to re-create the innovation process within their organisation upon their return and implement the solution.

Team:

The process will be supported by a team of 3 experienced trainers.

This is a skills-oriented workshop for trainers with a long-term experience in the youthfield, who have been in touch with coaching/mentoring practices & want to explore these approaches further when it comes to designing & delivering training activities.

General Description

Training Skills Workshops (TWS) are organised in the context of European Training Strategy which aims at developing trainers’ competences as outlined in the ETS Competence Model For Trainers.

TSWs are for trainers having a long-term experience with training in the field of youth. The workshop is for trainers who wish to develop their competence with regard to particular areas/skills and transfer the learning to their youth work practice. Every time TSW has a different thematic focus for certain skills development.

The TSW 2020 in Germany is in particular for trainers in the field of youth who are curious about what they can further learn from coaching/mentoring (no need to have prior expertise but to at least have been in touch with these practices) and who are ready to reflect about own practice and enrich it with some coaching/mentoring approaches and techniques. The team of the TSW is composed of Laimonas Ragauskas and Darko Markovic.

Intentions

The workshop aims at expanding trainers’ competences with regard to methods and skills connected to coaching (and to a certain extent: mentoring) in the training design and practice in the field of youth.

This TSW will tackle dimensions such as:

  • Approaching training design and delivery from a coaching mind-set
  • Reflection on the trainer role in the learning process
  • Essential coaching skills for trainers
  • Coaching individuals and groups in the training context
  • Supporting participants’ learning and development with coaching tools

More precisely, the TSW will explore a series of specific skills related to coaching in training, such as: supporting participants in defining their (development/action) goals, listening at deeper levels, asking coaching questions, recognising the potential, getting the group unstuck, opening new perspectives, etc.

Hence, it is important to highlight that this is not a course on coaching, but a short and intensive workshop on using coaching/mentoring skills in designing training activities.

Schedule

Arrivals during 5 September (dinner is foreseen for everyone).

The programme starts on 7 September the morning and ends on 11 September at 13:00, hence, the departures should be arranged not earlier than 15:30 (flying time).
