General Description

Europe Goes Local is an international project funded through the Erasmus+ Programme. The core aim of the project is to raise the quality of local youth work in particular through enhanced cooperation between various stakeholders that are active at the municipal level.

The Partnership currently involves about 200 members who represent around 120 municipalities from 22 participating countries.

The Partnership also intends to have a multiplying effect by connecting to various activities of the partners and spreading project results to a wide range of stakeholders. This Strategic Partnership is a platform for multi-level initiatives. Large-scale events, mapping exercises and network-wide actions are coordinated at the European level while National Agencies develop national plans to respond to the needs of their partners and create different types of learning opportunities with a transnational dimension.

How can youth work be meaningfully documented and reflected on without wasting too much time? How can communities offer their young people a broad range of exchange opportunities? How does international youth work contribute to inclusion for all young people? And how can European concepts have an impact at local level?

The main abjectives of the TC are:

  • to have a multiplying effect by connecting to various activities of the representatives and
  • spreading project results to a wide range of stakeholders
  • to raise the quality of local youth work through enhanced cooperation between various
  • stakeholders that are active at the municipal level
  • to enhance networking among municipality representatives
  • to share good and bad practices

Seminar: Youth centres of the future

Dates: 18-19 June 2020

Venue: Luxembourg

Eligible are 20 participants coming from: Austria, Belgium – DE, Belgium – FL, Belgium – FR, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom

Application deadline: 10th April 2020

ATTENTION: DUE TO THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 THIS ACTIVITY HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. APPLICANTS WILL BE INFORMED OF NEW DATES ONCE CONFIRMED!

The aim is to foster exchange and to brainstorm together if the orientation of youth policy and youth work in the setting of youth centres is still tailored to the needs and interests of young people.

General Description

The everyday lives of young people are fast changing. At the same time the youth centres in Luxembourg have existed for over two decades, and there is a possibility, that the needs of young people are developing faster than, and not necessary in accordance with the concept, architecture and equipment of the youth centres.

Therefore, it is essential to analyse on a regular basis if this is the case, and if so, further develop and adapt the concept of the youth centres.

Through a participative approach we would like to gather policy makers, youth workers, and researchers to discuss what the youth centres of the future could look like, what could be the role of the youth workers, how we can reach out to young people, what the impact of digitalisation could be, and if the findings and needs are different for small, medium and large municipalities.

The objectives of this 2-day seminar are:

  • Present the challenges to adapt the youth centres to the fast changing needs and interest of young people in the view of youth workers, researchers and policy makers
  • Make an inventory of different models of youth centres
  • Elaborate possible alternative concepts and approaches for locally embedded youth centres
